Mastercam’s capability for both positional (3+2) and full continuous 5
axis machining, has been in existence for over 15 years, so you can
imagine the depth and breadth of it’s functionality in the latest release
of Mastercam X4.

Dedicated routines have been added to Mastercam’s 5 axis strategy library for a whole variety of applications for Port Machining, Swarf Machining, Profiling, Drilling, Impeller and Turbine Blades along with many others to meet the high requirements of the Aerospace, Motorsport, Mould & Die, Medical and General Subcontract 5 axis machining.

Mastercam’s depth of functionality with these 5 axis strategies has enabled it to interface to these toolpaths using clear and easy-to-follow graphical dialog boxes, so the user has minimal input, and allowing the system to make full use of its state-of-the-art collision avoidance technology. If preferred, an advanced dialog box can be requested with far more detailed strategy overrides which can be set, giving the user complete control over toolpath generation.

Easy to follow Toolpath Strategy Settings:
Machine Simulation:

Mastercam’s machine simulation capability is also streets ahead of most other similar systems. Unlike other in-built simulation, where the simulation is only showing the pre post-processed toolpath cutter location,  Mastercam’s simulation is actually driven by the post-processor itself. So any decision taken by the post processing, will be shown in Mastercam’s simulation. With Mastercam’s Simulation, the user can easily step forward or backward, zoom, rotate and view the component and machine moves from any direction - even while the simulation is running.
